IN STORE APPEARANCE, BORDERS BOOKS

I will be doing an in-store appearance at the Borders Books in Riverhead, Long Island this weekend because it's their grand opening. The signing will be Sunday from 3 to 4 PM. Take the Long Island Expressway until it ends and I think they said it's on the left. Come on out, get your books signed, and besides, there's a Krispy Kreme donuts next door, so how wrong can you go, really?

Sadly, I live several hundred miles away. :(

Is that a subtle hint that if someone stops by Krispy Kreme first some authors may be bribed to sign more books? ; )

When will you be appearing in the Borders in Seattle?

There must be something wrong with me because I just don't wsee hat the big deal is with Krispy Kreme donuts.

Kripy Kremes are fantastic. Can't eat too many at once, but so ... so much goodness.

Dennis, you must have been born without a soul. :P

I buy chocolate cake frosting and smooth it over the top of my krispy kremes. Yummy!

Being from NC I grew up on Krispy Kreme. One of the world's most beautiful sites is the glowing "Hot Doughnuts" sign. The chocolate covered doughnuts are the best. And I am a former Police Officer so this is coming from an expert.

But to get back to the main topic, Peter I hope someday you will have a signing in eastern NC. The beaches are great so you would have a nice time.

PAD, are you stalking me? First a small signing in Beantown, now one near my ancestral stomping grounds on Eastern LI. Hmmm.....

Tips for anyone heading out to Riverhead, NY for that signing: PAD's right-- you want the LIE (495 East) to the last exit, #73 (Greenport/Orient Point). You'll plop off the exit ramp on County Road 58, headed east. You'll pass the megolithic Tanger Outlets on your right, and then look for the newish Riverhead Commons (or is it Centre?) with the new B&N on your left. If you reach a traffic circle, turn around and loop back--you've gone too far.

And, please: don't go any further east anway. We don't need anymore, and we're thinking of putting up a wall. We've lost Riverhead completely, but we're drawing the sprawl line there, thanks very much.... :-)

Have a good signing! Go to the excellent Atlantis Aquarium in downtown Riverhead if you get a chance, and check out the newly openened arts center across the street.

No, it's an incentive to the many folks who might say, "Big deal, who cares that Peter David is signing at...mmmmm! Donuts!"

Dang it, I want you to come to Texas sometime. Wizard is having a convention out here in November. Perfect time, i sez. But what do I know.

Also, I sent you some pictures of your books at a Barnes and Noble, just so you could see they were keeping them in stock. Has all 3 Apropos books, Hulk and some others. Just thought you might like to see that. This is the same B and N that at one point had like 3 of your books, total, in the Fiction section (not including your ST and B5 books).

Count me in as one of those that doesn't get the Krispy Kreme thing. They're OK, certainly better when hot then when you get the from the grocery store, but they in no way compare to the godliness of a Dunkin Donut cream filled...mmmmm...now that's a tasty treat!

Sadly, I live much too far from the signing to attend. But I met PAD at a few SDCC's, and will hopefully get the chance to do so again some day...

ARRRGH!

Why do all the other Borders Books get great guests like you?

Here in Michigan, we never get anyone good. We get local authors and Charlie freaking Daniels.

Born and raised in North Carolina, and I strongly prefer Dunkin Donuts to Krispy Kreme. To the point that before KK started spreading out, my niece's school was literally around the corner from their flagship store in Winston-Salem. When visiting there on vacation and taking her to/picking her up from school I'd no desire at all to stop and get any KK doughnuts.

KK for the doughnuts. DD for the doughnut holes.

I'm oh so tempted, but I don't think my back will like me for a six-hour each way trip in the car.

Who says local authors aren't good? I'm a local author (I'm always right where I am), and I'm very good. And I was at the signing in Riverhead, too. Mr. David, it was a lot of fun, especially the new New Frontiers readings, and I wish I could have gotten everything they had of yours, but my wife--I mean, my Chief Financial Officer is delegated to authorize those expenditures. But I've sent her a memo.
