Two things

1) Just turned in the next "New Frontier" novel, "Treason." Pub date is early next year.

2) If you have read and enjoyed "Tigerheart," please go over to Amazon.com and post a review. Thanks.

Fantastic news, I don't know how I've lasted without my NF fix :) (Annoyingly, I found out about the comic series just in time to see issue 2 on the shelves, with issue 1 long sold out - so I'm having to wait in hope of a graphic novel version).

Tigerheart sounds interesting, I think I'll have to pick up a copy at some point.

Posted by: Michael Mastakin at July 10, 2008 09:07 AM

Is it early next year yet please?

Thankfully I have been getting the comic so I do have a monthly fix of New Frontier to tide me over.

Posted by: john Conner at July 10, 2008 09:42 AM

The next New Frontier novel? You have made me the happiest sci-fi reading, star trek loving dork in the whole wide room....

Posted by: Kathy at July 10, 2008 09:57 AM

More New Frontier? YAY!

Kathy took the words right out of my mouth.

Yay! *bounce*

Oh, is the comic out now? I stopped being able to afford comics about a year ago when I got laid off. *pout* I mean, I guess I could try to just pick up New Frontier, but it's like a sickness, really.

Posted by: Luigi Novi at July 10, 2008 10:59 AM

Spoiler for those who haven't yet read the New Frontier comic currently on sale.

Peter, given that the New Frontier comic involves some Starfleet officers apparently betraying their comrades, does Treason stem from or pick up from those events?

End spoiler warning.

Craig J. Ries,

What was the great news about Dr. Who?

PAD: Haven't read Tigerheart yet, but I really enjoyed the preview. I'll have to try read it soon.

Outpost Gallifrey has mentioned that the Brigidier played by Nicholas Courtney will be appearing on SARAH JAME SMITH ADVENTURES.

Posted by: Dean at July 10, 2008 03:04 PM

Looking forward to the new NF novel (though have some catching up to do). PAD, are you allowed to say if your short story in Shards and Shadows is NF or something else?

Posted by: Craig J. Ries at July 10, 2008 05:42 PM

Well, FWIW, I was trying to not spoil it outright for those that choose not to know these things ahead of time. :P

Posted by: J. Alexander at July 10, 2008 07:03 PM

Craig,

I do not think it is suppose to be a spoiler. This is something the BBC will be promoting the heck out of to increase the viewings on the show. The Brig has a lot of fans out there.

I haven't gotten my copy through my comic shop/Previews. Did they ship through that outlet yet?

Posted by: krayz at July 10, 2008 09:37 PM

Copy of Tigerheart, that is.

If you're hoping to get it through Diamond, you can forget it. Get it from a bookstore or Amazon.

krayz, I actually just found out a few days ago that Diamond apparently cancelled all the Previews orders for Tigerheart. I'm annoyed -- I'd ordered it that way, too. Time to look elsewhere, I guess!

I do not think it is suppose to be a spoiler.

Maybe, maybe not. At this point, the news is a result of somebody who got photos during filming.

In the end, I've had to deal with people who would get anal if they even saw a trailer for the next episode of a show. So, I'm just trying to cover all bases. :)

I love New Frontier-- but why does McHenry act like me about 90% of the time. Particularly the way he treated that Tricorder in the Worf books.

Apropos of nothing (hey, what a great title for a book!), I had a Peter David moment the other day passing my local theater marquee. Remember when we discussed poorly/oddly positioned movie names? Well, this one was rather nice, I thought:

INCREDIBLE HULK
GET SMART

"He did!" I exclaimed. "It was great! Peter David rocked it!"

And then everyone looked at the crazy person talking to a sign, and shyly backed away.

Posted by: Tim Lynch at July 11, 2008 05:20 PM

On the other hand, I saw on a nearby marquee:

ZOHAN
WANTED
INCREDIBLE HULK

Gave one pause, that...

What? No tease about the book plot? Not even a word? You're an evil man, Peter David.

ZOHAN
WANTED
INCREDIBLE HULK

Didn't he say he only liked the ladies?

ZOHAN
WANTED
INCREDIBLE HULK

That is pretty funny:)

The title of the book is making us all wonder ... in a very good way.

I can't wait for it. Then again, due to being in the UK and not near a decent bookshop / specialist comic outlet I've got to wait to order the latest NF installment as a collected edition. Thank God for Amazon!

Any chance of any other ST books PAD ? I loved Before Dishonor

Posted by: Janice at July 14, 2008 11:06 AM

Please help me understand this. NF Comics? Is Comic #1 a comic book about Book #1, House Of Cards or is it a new story like Double Time was?

Posted by: Michael at July 14, 2008 01:39 PM

The current comic series is a brand-spankin' new story, told as a five-issue mini-series from IDW, the lovely folks what publish Fallen Angel. Issues 1-4 are already out. Here's the page on IDW's web site:

I've been loving the comic book, and can't wait for the new novel. And I really like that you seem to be maintaining continuity between the two.

Peter, any chance we'll ever see a New Frontier TV show or movie? By which I mean, has it ever been discussed at all by The Powers That Be? And if so, is something you'd actually be interested in?

Posted by: Peter David at July 14, 2008 05:22 PM

PAD, any reason so far as you know why Diamond fell through on this?

Not enough people ordered it. They are currently soliciting "Mascot to the Rescue." I'll be interested to see if that warrants enough interest from the retailers so that orders will actually be honored.

I very much doubt it.

Not enough people ordered it.

An understandable reason, I guess, but it's kind of annoying to those of us (like me) who DID order it.
I'd never heard of "Mascot to the Rescue", so I just looked it up. Interesting, but I hope they promote it a bit!

PAD,

Sorry to go off topic, but you've mentioned an interest in the occasional musical, so I wanted to make sure you saw Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.

http://www.drhorrible.com/

Joss Whedon's crazy internet musical about a super villain trying to get some respect. One week only without paying.

I don't like musicals, but I can't stop singing the songs.

Thanks :)

Any chance of an audio version of Tigerheart being published?

Yes, an unabridged version, coming in August, in MP3 CD, audio CD, audio cassette, and audio download versions.
