Yes, I saw it

On "The Colbert Report" tonight, the number five threat on the "Threat Down" was the international edition of Monopoly.

With one day to go on the voting, let us see if America can get a Colbert bump.

Well, they've got one day left, so there's not as much time for repeat viewings to plant the seed as would be preferable, but hey, anything's possible.....

He talked about it, but he didn't quite give them "everyone bombard this site" command that he's given to past internet polls. This might not get as big a flood of people as past polls he's talked about.

Number five seems like a fine place for New York to land on that poll.

Maybe the world would be better off if it didn't care, either.

How very generous. So tell me: Which sites and blogs from other countries, which actively advocated voting only for them and no other countries, did you go to and urge them against displaying such rampant nationalism? I'm just curious if you felt so strongly about it that you made a point of holding other sites to the same standard as this one.

A VP at my company is from Turkey (the nation, not the bird), and when I told him that Istanbul had been the top vote-getter he burst out laughing and said, "There must be a lot of people in Turkey with an Internet connection and too much time on their hands."

If a Turkish national can laugh about this, perhaps so can the rest of us.
