I've been looking for one of these

2Peter David in the deckard.jpg

Abbyshot replicas is this really cool outfit that makes replicas of movie costumes. I'm getting myself one of the coats I'm shown wearing above: It's a replica of the coat that Harrison Ford wore as Deckard in "Blade Runner." The cool thing about it is that it's made of this astounding material that sheds water like nothing I've ever seen, so it's an ideal raincoat (they also make a version made of more normal material for those who want to have that beaten up, rumpled "Blade Runner" look.) They also make Mal Reynolds coats, that yellow jacket Uma Thurman wore in "Kill Bill," and other stuff. Check it out. Abbyshot

Sweet! Now do they have it in Unstable Molecule fabric?

Pretty snazzy, Peter.

Peter David: ..that yellow jacket Uma Thurman wore in "Kill Bill,"...
Luigi Novi: Just FYI, that yellow track suit was a homage to Bruce Lee, who wore it in Game of Death.

Holy crap! When did you shave? You look completely different from the last time I saw you. (Which, I guess was at the last time I was at Dragoncon, which I admit was a couple of years ago.)

Well, I was going to be blisteringly sarky about the Bruce Lee snub, but Luigi already mentioned it. I swear, you young people these days have absolutely no idea about what happened before you came along.

It's not PAD! It's a replicant!

I actually had the pleasure of doing a news story about these guys years ago when they were just starting out (they're from my home province of Newfoundland). Nice bunch of people, they do an awesome job on the coats and a ton of research on them. I'm always glad to see them do so well.

Now all I need to do is convince my wife that I need one of these coats...

Do they do somewhat shredded purple pants? : -)

Yeah, but on their website the name for the jacket style is "The Bride." So unless you're gonna argue that they're referring to Elsa Lanchester...

Now it just needs some month until it looks worn out enough like Deckards. Since it still looks to bright and new on that pic.

Two things:

1. Peter, not to put too fine a point on it, but MAN you were NOT KIDDING about having slimmed down! You look great. Nice work. (FYI, your recent soapbox-speech about the dangers of obesity inspired my girlfriend and I to join Weight Watchers.)

2. "Kill Bill" -- not my favorite movie title.

Is it just my old age and poor memory :) or does Peter look like the twin of Peter Jurasik in that picture?

Posted by: Hal Jordan at September 27, 2007 08:34 PM

Christ, Peter. You look almost as bad as that skin-job you left on the sidewalk.

Posted by: Hal Jordan at September 27, 2007 08:36 PM

(I'm kidding of course. Between the shave and the slim physique, you look great, Mr. David.)

WOW!! At first glance I was wondering who that was modeling the coat. Looking good! Dare I say looking badass.

"Kill Bill" -- not my favorite movie title.

Oh see, now I on the other hand, would paper the walls of my house with a dozen variant posters from that movie, if my wife would let me.

I echo the folks who are complimenting PAD on his new look...but I swear he reminds me of someone...just can't put my finger on who. Yeah, a little like Peter Jurasik but there's someone else... Anyway, looking good, sir.

I was actually thinking Peter Boyle and Peter Jurasik alternately. Don't think it's either of those, but I can't put my finger on who just yet.

I was thinking he reminded me of someone also. I think its the look hes giving thats helping.
Would it help to imagine a fedora?

He's either trying out for the 11th Doctor. Or is Julie Schwartz's evil twin.

I'm just wondering when you're going to have time to write X-Factor and She-Hulk while replicant hunting.

A groovy look for you Peter.

Posted by: ArcLight at September 28, 2007 12:07 PM

I could live with one of those but if I could get just one it'd be their "Rocket Jacket."

Posted by: BBayliss at September 28, 2007 03:53 PM

WOW! I saw you about 2 years ago at MidOhio, you sure have slimmed down! And shaved! you look like my older brother now rather than my father!

And I second (or third or...) those of us that say you'r looking Peter Boyle-ish.

Abbyshot does some great work. But those coats are so expensive. My fiend wanted one of their Browncoats, but just couldn't afford it. So my wife worked out a pattern and made one for him out of a microfiber faux suede, and I think it looks great. She said she'd sell them if enough people were interested. Here's the post at Firefly costuming. If you like it, let me know.

Everytime I see this picture, I keep thinking "Wow, Gambit has not aged gracefully..."
