You absolutely have to check this out.

I do not typically embed films in this blog, but I thought this was so hysterical, I wanted to make sure you all saw it.

Brilliant!

I've got to admit, that was pretty clever. And funny. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to show this to my kids tonight.

Imagine Curly being the forgotten past of some leather clad superhero with claws. What would Laurie and Aunt Eller think?

Posted by: LindaY at December 7, 2006 08:57 AM

1I think these are the same folks who did the video of George Lucas' version of SINGING IN THE RAIN. Great stuff.

Posted by: Aaron Thall at December 7, 2006 09:29 AM

If you hear a strange sound in Ohio right now, it's me laughing.

Always knew there was something funny about Wolverine...

Posted by: Rob Brown at December 7, 2006 10:07 AM

"I've been trying to track him with Cerebro, but his movements are inexplicably erratic."

Classic! Hehe.

Posted by: dave g at December 7, 2006 10:49 AM

That was pretty good.

Posted by: heartnut at December 7, 2006 10:52 AM

*snerk* Too funny for words. Amazing how these things line up perfectly. Wonder if Jackman's seen this one yet.

Posted by: Hooper at December 7, 2006 11:27 AM

That's a riot, eh?

Posted by: mister_pj at December 7, 2006 11:27 AM

Most excellent! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at Wolverine in the same light again! (LOL)

I had the great opportunity of seeing this production of Oklahoma! in 1999 in London. Hugh Jackman has really a great singing voice. Plus, Maureen Lippman impressed me as Aunt Eller. Josephina Gabrielle was a delightful Laurie. But the one who stole the show was Shuler Hensley. Man, his Judd Fry was fantastic. Watch the video, and you'll see what I mean. The best evening I had that year in a theater.

And yes, it's really funny. Too bad they couldn't have added Boy from Oz clips as well.

Posted by: Luigi Novi at December 7, 2006 12:08 PM

Oh my God. I was cracking up. But they should've cut it off at the 2 minute mark. After that, it lost it.

Brilliant, though.

Posted by: Estelle Chauvelin at December 7, 2006 01:10 PM

But there was Boy from Oz. Quite a bit of it.

I saw Boy from Oz in NYC- I thought the reviews that said Hugh Jackman was the only good thing about it were rather harsh. Of course he was great, but everything about the cast and production aspects were good: it's just that the script was lousy.

Shuler Hensley being in Van Helsing just added an entirely different level of amusement for me. Then again, I think most of my amusement at Van Helsing was coming from levels that weren't intended.

I have a copy of one of his performances in oklahoma on dvd. It's funny, but not near as funny as the VHS of paint your wagon I have with clint eastwood and lee marvin... I mean as much as I love hugh jackman i still know he's a little fruity... but eastwood and marvin? wtf...

Posted by: Gerard at December 7, 2006 02:39 PM

Oh, My Mistake! I will now sing "My Mistake" (ten points for the reference)

My only excuse is that I posted before watching the whole thing.

But at least, it took me less time to admit that mistake han it takes a politician to admit he or she did anything wrong. Considerably less time.

Posted by: Robert Fuller at December 7, 2006 03:36 PM

I've seen that before. I don't think it's very funny or clever, certainly not as well-done as "Shining" or "Scary Mary," to name two examples.

Posted by: Micha at December 7, 2006 04:08 PM

"Hugh Jackman has really a great singing voice."

just like Wolverine

He's the best he is at what he does. And what he does...is so terribly, terribly pretty!

Posted by: Rich Drees at December 7, 2006 05:10 PM

Fun stuff.

PAD- Have you seen "Avenue Jew" yet? It features the cast of both "Avenue Q" and "Fiddler on the Roof". Brilliantly funny.

Posted by: Luke K. Walsh at December 7, 2006 05:57 PM

Very amusing (what I could see/hear of it, with my slow computer/connection - have to get my wife to play it on her laptop sometime). And Queen Anthai - you made me lol, too! Anyone who didn't get the reference, go read Astonishing X-Men. Now.

Posted by: Kathleen at December 7, 2006 06:13 PM

Someone sent me the "Avenue Jew" link and we watched it with much giggling. Best had to be the responce to "Do you love me?"

Posted by: R.J. Carter at December 7, 2006 07:45 PM

This was faaaaa-bulous! :) (Although for a half a nanosecond before the first image loaded, I had this gut-nagging feeling it was going to be a video of "the world's coolest 8 year old" surfacing on the net yet again.)

Posted by: Rex Hondo at December 7, 2006 10:15 PM

Hehehe...

Quite funny, yet sadly, it would have probably made a better movie than the actual X3. :P

I seem to be the only person on the internet who doesn't find this thing to be the slightest bit funny.

"I seem to be the only person on the internet who doesn't find this thing to be the slightest bit funny."

Well, humor is always a matter of personal taste. Sorry it didn't work for you.

It amused me though.

Can one joke . . . be drawn out . . . for three minutes?

Posted by: Josh Pritchett, Jr at December 8, 2006 05:29 AM

1As sad as this may sound that was the funniest 3 minutes and 8 seconds of my life.

Posted by: Powell Pugh at December 8, 2006 05:40 AM

Not enough synchronous moments + Too much expository text = Not Funny, Marty Pasko.

Posted by: hooked66 at December 8, 2006 09:20 AM

Bit too long, but it was amusing.

Still Brokeback to the Future is the standard for internet excellence.

At one time I thought that Paint Your Wagon was just something they made up on an episode of the Simpsons. When I found out there was an actual movie I couldn't believe it. Hysterical. Although, I don't think I'll ever be able to watch it all the way through.

Posted by: JamesLynch at December 8, 2006 10:30 AM

Given the number of amusing roles the X-MEN cast have done -- Patrick Stewart selling erotic-shaped cakes on SNL, Halle Berry in B.A.P.S. or CATWOMAN -- I'm surprised there aren't more compilation videos like this.

I laughed!

Posted by: rahnefan at December 8, 2006 11:15 AM

Meh.

Posted by: Paul1963 at December 8, 2006 05:00 PM

Well, it took a good while to load at 45333 bps (gotta love that dialup), but it was pretty amusing.
Man, we have got to get the Adventures of Superman segment from Kryptonian Idyll on YouTube...

Bwah-ha-ha!

Was it because he had already fought Jackman in Oklahoma!, or because he had already played the Creature in a musical version of Mary Shelley's novel?

http://www.frankensteinthemusical.com for more about this projected musical. I have the OCR, and I must say that this is something I'd very much like to see.

1The only improvement I might have recommended was dropping in the line about Yellow Spandex. :)

Posted by: Steven at December 9, 2006 12:52 AM

HA! HA! Awesome

Posted by: Alex at December 10, 2006 12:38 AM

lol! So much better than X3.

Posted by: TallestFanEver at December 11, 2006 02:32 AM

"His movements are inexplicably erratic" *intercut hardcore X-Men action with Jackman dancing*

That one's gold. Also, everybody should watch the golden oldies (well, in relative internet terms, golden oldies) net trailers like "Brokeback to the Future" and "Shining".

Posted by: francotiger at December 11, 2006 04:57 PM

very funny.

forgive this totally off topic comment, but seeing as this is more or less about comic parodies, I thought readers here might get a kick out of this: The Peanuts as Marvel Superheroes: http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=10151&page=1 ^_^
