Big Announcement! Watch This Space

Peter is making a big announcement at WonderCon today. Once I know he has made it (he's gonna call me on the cell to tell me) then I will announce it here. It will probably will not be before 7 pm (REVISED time) EST.

Revised: I can tell you that it is not a new sibling for the David Girls. But it was a nice thought Shana.

It's the SUSPENSE that kills ya!

Hey, nice write up about PAD over at Aint It Cool:

I made my way over to the "Artists' Alley" to get signed all these comix in my backpack that no doubt herniated a disc or two. First off was one of my favourite comic writers: Peter David. His long run on "Hulk" is one of the things kept stirring my imagination issue after issue. He signed my "Hulk" issues 387-397. When he got to 395, where big Green "battles" the Punisher, he cracked up. "The fans had been writing me letters to have the Hulk fight Punisher, but I tried to explain--and showed in the issue--that it's not a fair fight." (For those not familiar, the Punisher--apparently ignorant of the Hulk's existence--empties full clips on big Green, to which the latter doesn't even shrug. The "fight" ends with the Hulk, clothes blown away, standing in front of the Punisher. Next page, the Punisher recovering from a Hulk induced migraine the result of Green plucking him with ONE FINGER.) He got nostalgic as he signed my copy of his comic adaptation of the movie "Rocketeer". Dave Stevens, that comic's artist, had a signing booth but never showed up (nor did Frank Cho, who just showed up for his Image panel). I had some more "X-Factor" and "Spidey 2099" books that Peter signed and waxed poetic about. All in all, Peter David = great guy.

Am I getting a new baby brother or sister?!?!?!

Posted by: Craig Welsh at February 11, 2006 11:26 AM

Didn't he get a tattoo at one of these cons? Please let it not be a piercing. Please...

Posted by: Bill Mulligan at February 11, 2006 11:33 AM

He's been personally handpicked by Joe Quesada to write Marvel Comic's new Miniseries MOHAMMAD: HIS LUST FOR POWER.

Posted by: Jeff Alan Polier at February 11, 2006 11:34 AM

Peter David is Marvel's new Editor in Chief! Wahoo!

Well, I can dream...

Soulsearchers and Company has been optioned for a film?

Posted by: Matt D at February 11, 2006 11:58 AM

I'm still thinking he's going to be some sort of executive editor like Claremont was. And that can only be good news.

IDW is going to announce that FALLEN ANGEL is going to be published weekly.

Did we win the war?

If it's a piercing or a tattoo, please don't post any pics. Thankew.

Peter's writing the Hulk again -- or a Hulk related project. My guess.

Posted by: Tim Lynch at February 11, 2006 12:47 PM

Frivolous guess: he's decided to start voting Republican and work exclusively writing Spawn. :-) Either that, or the whole family's moving to LA so he can executive-produce Aquaman.

Serious guess: I almost do wonder if Shana's guess above is right, just because it seems a likely one that Kath would want to post Right After Peter's made the announcement.

I am, of course, more than likely to be way off base here.

Looking forward to the news, whatever it may be!

Definitely have my attention.

Isn't it obvious? He's giving up writing comics!

Posted by: Glenn Hauman at February 11, 2006 02:30 PM

Shana, I know the organ donor program is taking a while, but c'mon, that's a little rough.

Posted by: Sasha at February 11, 2006 02:50 PM

Probably that animation pilot he's been hinting about since forever.

My money is still on a JEM! remake.

I hate to spoil it for everyone... but I just heard the news....

spoiler space....

Peter just got hired to run Oklahoman's Against Pornography. He's moving to the midwest to help shutdown those evil vile comic shops...

You believe me, right?

The trick is to decide what Peter David himself thinks would be a big announcement. In the past, big announcements were always project related.

I'm going to rule out exclusivity with Marvel because of the complications with Fallen Angel and Soulsearchers (although there are ways around that).

Oooh... What if Peter David is writing the screenplay for Hulk 2? That would be grooviness.

Posted by: Michael D. at February 11, 2006 03:51 PM

He bowled a 300?

He's writing an episode of Battlestar Galactica/Doctor Who/Lost/Gilmore Girls?

He won the rights to Miracleman in a card game?

He's issuing a formal apology for his part in Spider-man: The Other? (just kidding)

Space Cases: The Movie starring Jewel Staite!! Written and Directed by Peter David!!

My guesses?

* He's the head writer for a new Star Trek TV series

* He's adopting Rob Liefeld so that when Rob grows up he'll be a well-adjusted adult

PAD is running for president in 2008.

No guesses here.

I just wanted to let hdefined know that I love his online name.

Brings back pleasant memories of Calculus and Modern Mathematical Analysis.

My guess: Wonder Man is going to become an ongoing, or that he will be writing an Avengers related series.

Peter David makes Earth shattering announcement

Yesterday, Peter David unveiled the latest phase of his career path to a stunned WonderCon audience. He said he's leaving behind the world of comics and novels for...... The ballet.

"I finally realized that I'd been wasting my life writing about men in tights when I all really just wanted to be one." Mr. David further elaborated on his life long desire, "I just feel that you can't say you've had a truly full life unless you can say you've danced The Swan Lake on Broadway."

Eliza Mercy-Mia, chorographer and head of Mr. David's dance troupe, said that he was a surprisingly excellent addition to the cast with very few real problems to overcome.

"He's just amazing," she said to this interviewer. "I was very surprised by how light on his feet he really was. I've never seen a more graceful or effortless example of a leaping swan ending in a landing split. And he said he owes it all to bowling."

Mrs. Mercy-Mia did say that there were injury issues to be dealt with however. "We did have problems early on in his training with back and knee injuries. But once we changed the choreography so that no one needed to lift Peter.... well.... those injury issues all went away."

Mr. David said that he's ready to go and that the first tour date is March 4th. "I'm really excited and can't wait to share this new phase of my life with everybody," said Peter. "I've already sent John Byrne front row tickets for the opening night's show."

He's going to right a Rick Jones miniseries? Or that Marvel has signed Keith Giffen to be regular artist for X-Factor?

One of the few "automatic drop"s for me, if it happened...

I'm still trying to track down the last issue of Captain Marvel (my comic store ran out) just so I can see how those two work together.

According to Newsarama, Peter David said at WonderCon this weekend that he is also writing a Star Trek: The Next Generation novel featuring the Borg, with his mission being to make the Borg not suck. David said you cannot reason with them, they do not have a plan, and there is no Queen. He described the Borg as a race of Terminators that will kick ass and be taking names.

I love the above news even more then that Marvel deal. Peter writing The Next Generation again, wow. And then also the Borg. That novel should, sorry, really kick ass.

Lets hope those tights are really, really baggy and that tutu is really really big....
