My San Diego schedule

Getting ready to hustle out to San Diego. Here's my schedule at the present time:

Thursday, 4:30 to 5:30 — Comic Book Weblogs
Saturday, 11:30 to 1:00 — Impact University: How to Write and Draw Comics
Saturday, 1:00 to 2:00 - Signing at IDW.
Saturday, 3:00 to 4:00 — IDW Publishing Overview
Sunday, 11:30 to 12:30 - CBLDF panel (I *think* I'm on this.)
Sunday, 1:00 to 2:00 — Marvel Comics' Spider-Man: The Other

I'll also be signing at the Claypool table from 4-5 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and I'll be at the Krause Publications/Impact booth as well. I'm not sure of the times on that yet, so we'll all be surprised.

Hope you have an enjoyable weekend at Nerd Prom. Probably have another 100,000 people this year. Wish I could be one of 'em again. Alas, I must wait til next year.

Dave, I prefer to think of it as the Annual Asperger's Convention.

I don't know if my finances will cover Con this year - just lost one job, haven't gotten the next yet - but I'll try to at least get there on Sunday. If I do get to go, I'll be sure to put "(the other one)" on my nametag - which might at least be good for a few funny looks at PAD's panel that day... :)

I think you mean Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. At least, that's when I've got you down on the Claypool schedule.

See you Friday, Peter. And everyone else: come visit us at booth 2102 in the Independent Publishers Pavilion near the front of Hall C.

Huzzah! A new thread. Thank GOD!!!

My impersonation of Fantastic fun:
"It was fun."

"No, it sucked"

"Shut up."

"No, YOU shut up."

"Make me."

"Your mama's ugly."

"Yeah, well, Fantastic Four rocked, man!"

"Are you an idiot?!"

"No, but you are."

"Shut up."

"No, YOU shut up."

"Make me."

BB, you forgot the whole line of derailed comments about other comic movies....

*sigh* Another SDCC that I don't attend...

Someday, someday...

In the meantime, as a bleeding-heart Liberal, I anxiously await a "Karl Rove should go to jail" entry from Peter... :)

This schedule is all well and good, but see no entry for going to Disneyland. You can't go to Southern California without hitting California Screamin', the Tower of Terror and Pirates of the Caribbean at least once, can you?

Posted by: BBayliss at July 13, 2005 09:21 AM

Bobb: I ducked out before that.

Knuckles-
He went to Disneyland at the end of June when he was out there for some meetings. We are going to Disneyworld at the end of this month so we are getting our happiest place on earth fix in this summer.

Aw, crud. THIS year you go to San Diego, just as we've moved to New Jersey.

No justice, I tell ya.

Ah, well. Have a nice time anyway (and I have to remember to use the phrase "Nerd Prom" sometime in the future).

A new thread! Joy!

I can finally stop reading the archives! Or reading people take Batman and Robin apart! For the three millionth time! Or listening to them complain that FF was too happy!

Ok, I feel better now.

Anyway, Mr. David, are you planing to come to any conventions in the Florida area anytime soon? Because that would be awesome.

Please? *uses Bambi Eyes*

And enjoy the SDCC.

If I'm able to, I'd like to go to San Diego next year. I'd also like to take the train rather than drive or fly. Has anyone here done so, and if so, would you recommend it? I'd be traveling to Chicago and from there direct (I think) to San Diego.

Kathleen: You are definitely getting Disney'd up from the feet up this year. Wow. We hit Orlando for the first time ever last November. Great fun (although I insist that the California Screamin' coaster is light years beyond the Aerosmith coaster at MGM Studios). I'd love to be at this year's con. I haven't gone since I was 20 (a disturbingly long time ago, I suddenly realize), and had a great time (even if I did overpay for a mint copy of Gorgo #3).

Irrelevant comment time: what happened to the countdown clock?

Posted by: Knuckles at July 13, 2005 12:43 PM

Jay: It's still there for me.

BB: Dammit, that's a beauty of a collection. Ditko's Gorgo rules.

I hope to see ya there!

Have a blast, PAD.

We're having to sit out again this year, due to finances. Almost got to go, but by the time we realized we could afford it, all the hotels were booked. :-(

Another Disney sidetrack: The Mission: Space ride at DisneyWorld Epcot is quite an experience; a simulated trip to Mars, with G-forces at lift off and while dodging asteroids. As you're queued up in line; you get a narration on space flight from Gary Sinese (who played the Apollo 13 flu-sidelined astronaut). Supposedly, those in the know say the ride is a pretty accurate simulation of space flight (except you're not weightless). Be prepared to lose a meal!

>> Space ride at DisneyWorld Epcot is quite an experience
Yeah - and not a good one!

I absolutely LOVE Disney and all theme parks in general, but that ride really made me feel ill. I think it's the only ride I've ever been on that you're shown where the sick bag is, too!

Or maybe my age is just catching up with me :-(

Go figure, PAD posts this thread last week AFTER I make my final check before heading out to San Diego for Comic-Con.

I mean, I knew PAD was going to be there and all, but it's easier to look at his list, rather than hunting through the lists of programming events, autograph sessions, and booth-specific notes to find out where somebody is going to be.

Anyways, it was nice to finally meet PAD at some booth or other, the name of which escapes me at the moment... this is what I get for writing this post at midnight after going to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Also met Glenn, David Mack, and Marco at the Pocket Books booth, Andy Mangels at the Tower Records booth on Saturday, and Keith DeCandido at his autograph session on Thursday.

All in all, a decent time. My hotel sucked (NEVER stay at the Holiday Inn Select on Hotel Circle). If I ever go to Comic-Con again, I'll just fork over the extra money to stay in downtown San Diego.

I also will not go to Sea World three separate times in four days for stuff. At least I get to blame my wife for that.
