Happy New Year

We spent the evening at Cirque Du Soleil, where I discovered that Caroline is definitely her mother's daughter when it comes to Cirque. Even though it was late at night, she watched with wide-eyed rapture, shouting, "Up! Up!" during the high wire acts and bouncing during the Chinese girls with the killer yo yo tricks (if you've seen it, you know what I mean.) A little over halfway through, she was literally fighting to stay awake before she twisted around (she was in my lap) and looked up at me with red-rimmed eyes and moaned softly, because she knew she wasn't going to make it. I turned her away from the performance and put her head against my shoulder, and she was out cold in about sixty seconds.

We went back to the hotel after that and all of us (except sleeping Caroline) watched fireworks blasting over Lake Buena Vista.

We head back home tomorrow evening (we make spectacular time when I drive through the night.)

Last night my daughter started coughing at about 11:00. (She has had this cough for a while and is taking medicine for it.) I brought her into the kitchen for some nice decaf tea with honey and lemon. Since she was still awake at about 10 minutes 'til midnight, I turned on the TV for the countdown. At midnight I got a "Happy New Year" and some wonderful kisses. That's starting the new year out right! Happy New Year to all and I hope all your dreams for this year come true.

Happy New Year Peter and family! Just make sure to drive carefully if you are driving through the night. I did the same thing at Thanksgiving from Ohio to North Carolina and a deer hit the side of my car at 3:30 in the morning.

Happy New Year to everyone in the Peterdavid.net family.

Karen, hope the baby's feeling better :)

Here's hoping for a year with more great PAD stories and fewer politics and other natural disasters

Thanks for your good thoughts, Bill. This is the third medicine the Doctor has prescribed and it seems to be doing the trick. Keep your fingers crossed.

As for your last sentence, I agree 100%. Unusual with the two of us, but heartfelt.

Have a happy holiday Peter. You're an awesome author, keep up the good work...by the by...I'm dying to know...did you end either the Knight Life or Sir Apropos of Nothing series...? (i hope not!)

Happy New Year Casa David!

I've discovered at the Senora David's blog that you've just gotten home safe and sound.

Congratulations on returning from your trip in one piece!

I'm in the process of reading the "King Arthur for President" sequel to Knight Life and I'm in the middle of Tong Lashing (Apropos of Nothing Volume III)!

Even if you decide to give these two series "a respite," I look forward to reading the next opus that you create, hopefully before 2005 is over.

You the man!

I can't find any copies of "What If" anywhere! They're all sold out!!! Any leads in the NY/NJ/PA area, anybody?

David S.,
For copies of "What If?", you could try Comics On The Green in Scranton, Pa. They have plenty!
If you can't make it in person, you can order through the mail.
The number for Comics On The Green is 342-5960.
Good Hunting!

Bill Mulligan,
Happy New Year to you and everyone as well. (Although I disagree with part of your last sentence:))
Karen,
I am happy to hear your baby is doing better as well. I hope your dreams for this year come true and i am keeping my fingers crossed that 2005 enables me to realize some longstanding ones.

May you have a great and Happy New Year, PAD. To both you and your family.

Posted by: Karen at January 3, 2005 01:11 PM

Thanks, Jerome, although I'm sure you wouldn't want ALL my dreams to come true. Especially the political ones. :)

Mattie, who has yet to have political thoughts of her own, is getting better day by day.

In a word:

AWWWWWWWWWW.

In a few more words:

Last Saturday evening ABC was playing THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and since nothing else was on and I had like it as a kid (since Disney flicks were required by law for kids in the 70s) so it was that fresh in mind when I read your account of Caroline at the circus-er, Cirque, and was reminded of this of lyric:

Somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good.

With all the grief you've had to put up with, and with how bad things could be playing out on the news channels, t'would seem the above lyric is quite appropos toward you and yours.

I'm looking forward to taking my preschooler to Cirque -- sadly, when he gets tired, Nicholas becomes a little beast so I might wait a couple more years for a Cirque experience. Thank you for sharing Caroline's delight... a child's fascination is definitely a great way to bring in the new year. :)

That is the sweetest thing! She's got such a strong personality... a lot of parents don't expect that of a 2 year old. I'm glad.
