What version of the Hulk is that? The head looks a bit too big proportionately to be the Hulk.
Otherwise, a nice rendering.
That is some of the best Lee Weeks artwork I've ever seen. The Hulk looks much like he did in his first appearances due to his body proportions and how the shirt has been ripped sleeveless. Thanks for sharing that preview with us!

Looks like a great nod to Kiry's original version. Looks incredible!!!!

Very nice. Some of the best Lee Weeks art I've seen.

Boy, do I disagree! I HATED the tiny-headed hulk! It was so ludicrous, I never even TRIED to read any of those issues!
As an artist who has drawn a monster or two in my life, larger heads are more menacing than smaller ones, in my opinion. The mouth, jaws and teeth are more pronounced, and are far more frightening, in my opinion, than a monster who looks like a bodybuilder with a small head. A larger head head also infers a more threatening predatory cunningness, which is why, even with its mouth closed, a tyrannosaurus still looks far more menacing than a brontosaurus. Jack Kirby understood this very well, and thus when he drew his legions of monsters for Marvel in the late 1950s and early 1960s, few, if any, had small heads.
The bottom line? I think this teaser page of the Hulk looks absolutely terrific!
Yes...VERY much a modern surface wrapped around a chewy Kirby core.
I'm with Yarish. This definitely appears to be a throwback to the Hulk's early days, but with far superior detailing. Great stuff!
Not bad, but I wish we could leave bowl-cut Hulk in the past
I think both Hulks (The Merged Hulk with his Bruce Banner-ish looks, and the more apeish Hulk) work. It just depends what you're using them for.
That Weeks guy. He draws the best Hulk since, i dunno, Jack Kirby!
3 words OUT -STAND-ING!!!!!!!!!!Not a fan of the "moe cut" hair style but i do like the thicker build, big head ,Hulk.Kirby and Sal buscema captured this version the best.Great job
Mr Weeks.Cant wait for the series to come out.
very cool...looks old school, very retro look. just my 2 cents....
I agree...Lee Weeks artwork is fantastic. There is a colored page from Hulk #77 with green genes underwater in this month's Marvel Previews, and it looks gorgeous. I don't remember his stuff from PAD's run on Justice, the New Universe "it doesn't suck anymore" title, but he seems to have grown leaps and bounds in storytelling and illustration skills since the Daredevil "Last Rites" story. I can't wait to pick up Hulk #77.
I've been spoiled by Gary Frank's "handsome hulk". The "monster hulk" looks more like Frankenstein's monster.

Wow, that is really awesome. It's great to see a Hulk that actually looks menacing again!
Though I feel sympathy for the idiot who tried to set Hulk on fire. I'm assuming that's a flame thrower of some description. Boy is he in for some hurt.
I just finished reading PADs entire 10+ year run on the Hulk for the first time. Great read. Just wondering if anyone can fill in some of the blanks between when PAD's run ended (Betty's death) & when this one picks up.
I know there's this big conspiracy theory that seemingly went nowhere, Hulk back to his "get mad/Hulk out" persona & Betty somehow rose from the dead. Anyone got more details? Will Peter be following any of the stuff that occured between when his run ended and this one starts?
And, for the record, I liked the "Tiny head-Merged Hulk" look. Mainly because it was, well, kinda creepy. It really was Bruce Banner's head stuck on the Hulk's body. His inner torment reflected outward for everyone to see all the time. Worked very well.
I actually own the original artwork for Lee Weeks cover to issue #10, one of my favorite Hulk covers. I am definitely looking forward to this book. PAD and Weeks, what can be better than that!
Looks great I cant wait to see the finished work PAD.

great art!..Weeks,David...i`ll buy it!...Peter David rules!
Peter,
Promise me that if you end up staying on the Hulk past this story arc that you'll try to get Lee Weeks to do the art on a regular basis. I don't know why this guy isn't on a monthly title. His work is amazing.
The artwork is cool, but it's not my cup of tea. I much prefer Deodato or Gary Franks. Andrea Divito depicts the Hulk on a two paged splash in the last issue of Thor, and I think that it is a perfect depiction.
I'm not big on the big, ugly, horror movie looking Hulk with the Frankenstein look. But that's just my personal preference.
You know guys, this could just be a flashback. Its not set in stone that this is how the Hulk will look the entire mini-series. I mean, it COULD be how, but you never know.
I really like the retro look of Lee's art. Much cool!
I am so excited by the look of all of this. The picture must be retro- due to the art in Marvel Previews from that issue looks nothing like that style. If anybody at Marvel or in the comics market have any sense PAD must stay on Hulk (there are so many continuity glitches created by other writers post PAD which have to be ironed out).
Just a note that everybody should look for the return of GrimJack from IDW in January (Not related to anything, but I have mentioned PAD's return to Hulk on John Ostranders Web site. So I thought I would return the favour. At least the message of PAD's return has been broardened).
